《新未来》中的十一位女孩，都是在北京的大学一年级新生。她们都来自农村或小城镇，在校领取贫困生助学金。她们是站在巨大城乡差距断层边的年轻一代。她们在完成了规定的入学军训后不久，便接受了艺术家拍摄和采访的邀请。

声音部分是图片中的女生各自讲述家庭状况、适应北京和学校生活的过程，以及对未来事业、个人生活的憧憬。

The 11 girls in “The new future”, were hired from the freshmen in the universities of Beijing especially for this art work in 2006. They all came from rural towns or villages, receiving poor student allowance. They are the young generation who is standing over the great urban-rural gap in China.
They came to the artists’ studio for photo shooting and interviewing shortly after they accomplished the mandatory military training for freshmen.

The voices are the girls talking about their families, their struggle to adapt to Beijing and campus life, and plans for their personal lives and future careers.
